The Museum Mensch und Natur, the Museum of Man and Nature, sits in the north wing of Nymphenburg Palace. That is exactly where the most common misunderstanding at the ticket desk comes from. It is a natural history museum run by the Bavarian Natural History Collections, not part of the palace administration. If you are holding the combined palace ticket, it does not get you in here.
The museum is inside the palace but belongs to a different operator: its own desk, its own ticket, not in the combined ticket. On Sundays it costs 1 €.

Admission to the Museum Mensch und Natur
Admission is 3.50 € · reduced 2.50 € · on Sundays 1 €. The Sunday price is the real tip: 1 € instead of 3.5 €, which is a fifth of the standard price and applies to everyone, not only to concessions. If your dates are flexible, come on a Sunday.
The combined ticket for the palace complex (20 € in summer) does not include it. That ticket covers the palace, the Marstallmuseum and the park pavilions, everything under the Bavarian Palace Administration. Here you pay at a second desk, and one detail regularly catches visitors out: card payment is not possible.

Opening hours
Opening hours and the Monday closure
The museum is open Tue–Fri 9:00–17:00, Sat/Sun/holidays 10:00–18:00. These hours apply all year: unlike the palace in the same building and unlike the Botanical Garden run by the same operator, this museum has no winter changeover.
The closing day is Monday, except on public holidays. So if you are in the west of the city on a Monday you can see the palace and the Marstallmuseum but not this museum, unless that Monday is a holiday. For a specific date, Munich practical works it out.
What is on show
The museum belongs to the Bavarian Natural History Collections, the same group that runs the Botanical Garden at the northern edge of the park. It is a natural history museum, and the reconstructions of extinct species are among the pieces visitors photograph most.

For planning purposes the location matters most: because the museum sits in the north wing, you reach it without a single metre outdoors once you are inside the building. On a wet day in the west of Munich that is the practical point, and it fits the same chain as palace, park and beer garden, because no two of those are more than about a kilometre apart.
The museum and the Botanical Garden
Both belong to the same operator and lie 610 m apart: the museum inside the palace, the Botanical Garden at the northern edge of the park with its own entrance. There is still no joint ticket: 5.50 € · reduced 4 € for the garden, 3.50 € · reduced 2.50 € · on Sundays 1 € for the museum.
If you want both on one day, watch the season. The museum keeps the same hours all year; the Botanical Garden switches on 25 October to outdoor grounds 9:00–16:30, glasshouses 9:00–16:00 (25.10.–27.03.). In the winter season its outdoor grounds are free and only the glasshouses are charged.
Getting there
S-Bahn to Laim, dann Bus to Schloss Nymphenburg; alternatively U-Bahn to Rotkreuzplatz, dann Tram to Schloss Nymphenburg.
